Interactive techniques keep your employees engaged, which makes them more receptive to new information. They incorporate group discussions, which is one of the best ways for knowledgeable employees to pass their skills onto new employees.
Performance is about contribution: what an employee contributes that delivers results for the individual, for their teams and for their organizations. These are improvements in terms of products, processes, time-keeping, customer satisfaction…
Values, mission, core business, strategic goals and strategies that foster innovation are the preconditions for innovation activity in the company. They constitute a clearly expressed intention to implement innovative activities, and to achieve innovation.
Corporate culture is the next key element for the successful conduct of innovation in the company. Whether the innovation activities in the enterprise are actually implemented or they remain only on the level of expressed intentions depends on the culture of the company.
Primož Mihelič, author of seven patented inventions, designed innovation systems for two development suppliers in automotive industry. Innovation systems led to an exponential growth of innovations in these two companies.
Primož Mihelič about main points of success: “It is naive to think that good ideas automatically lead to innovations. There is a big difference between idea, invention and innovation. Even successful companies built on innovation have a short life if they don’t develop a culture of innovation and incorporate it in their DNA.«
In the organizational context, innovation may be linked to positive changes in efficiency, productivity, quality, and competitiveness… In this sense we have to highlight the role of organizational culture in enabling organizations to transform innovative activity into tangible performance gains. Organizations can improve results and performance by providing various teams or groups opportunities and resources to innovate. In a nutshell, it is necessary to create and nurture an innovation-supporting environment.
Do you think that your industry is stable and there is no need to innovate? There are very few such cases. All organizations can and must innovate to fulfill its goals, including for example hospitals, universities, and local governments. Executives and managers need to break away from traditional ways of thinking and use change to their advantage. The world of work is changing with the increase in the use of technology and both companies and businesses are becoming increasingly competitive.
Probably the hardest part of innovation is gaining courage and knowledge to dare to fail. The willingness to test many options and walk many paths is an important step of every innovation process.
